It’s a new twist on the Straight-8.

Mummified Dinosaur Unveiled

December 3, 2007—Dakota, a 67-million-year-old “dino mummy” unveiled today by a British paleontologist, is seen here in an artist’s rendering.

The extraordinarily preserved hadrosaur, or duck-billed dino, still had much of its tissues and bones intact, encased in an envelope of skin.

Research into the dinosaur’s remains may further scientists’ understanding of how the ancient creatures’ skin appeared and how quickly they moved, said team leader Phillip Manning of the University of Manchester, a National Geographic Expeditions Council grantee.

“This specimen exceeds the jackpot,” Manning said.

Dakota was about 35 feet (12 meters) long and weighed some 3.5 tons, but the dinosaur was no slowpoke, according to preliminary studies.

After the careful removal of tar from the site, paleontologists discovered
the the dinosaur had been affixed to a massive metal object.

Packard produced upmarket motorcars for a discerning clientele who did not mind the occasional unpleasant blowback at higher speeds. Packard hood ornaments tended to be associated, as shown here, with ‘old money’. Designed by Darrin, this big Clipper had flowing fenders and a narrow grille offset by horizontal spars. Power was provided by a 356 cubic-inch straight-eight, which made this a true 100 mph automobile, but a danger to occupants when followed by the Buick Tyrannosaur Super or its more elegantly appointed cousin–Tyrannosaur Rex.
