Had W kept enough troops there, we could have had a chance, but Iraqnophobia & Cheney triumphed.
The Associated Press is reporting that “NATO’s top commander in Afghanistan warned on Sunday that a majority of Afghans would likely switch their allegiance to resurgent Taliban militants if their lives show no visible improvements in the next six months.”
This is a distressing statement for many reasons, but the fact that he is talking about people who have been at war and/or religious tyranny since 1980 places our hopes in a t questionnable position.
It’s like one of those old Johnny Carson schticks.
“Boy, it’s getting bad in Afghanistan.”.
“How bad is it, Johnny?”
“It’s so bad…that many Afghans are converting to Judaism and Christianity just so they’ll be executed quickly.”
Obviously, the story is serious, but other than hijack our rights, is there anything this administration can do competently?
