I have excised the two paragraph lead of this article because it is quite difficult to read. For purposes of this post, one’s imagination will suffice. Apparently we are willing to tender more concern for our computer printers by avoiding re-cycled ink cartidges than for what is inserted into our bodies. This story represents yet another example of cost accountants’ inheriting the earth in some sick twist on the Beatitudes. Because every form of business and industry has a trade journal, I wonder what title the medical instrument re-cyclers mag carries.

In truth, television news coverage is not unlike the old story of Benito Mussolini’s review of his pre-war air force. He would fly to Naples to look at the war planes lined on the tarmac. After dinner, he would fly north to Milan to review those forces. Upon his arrival, the aerodrome was a splendorous vision of shiny airplanes for Il Duce. Pilots merely flew the same planes north while their leader was having dinner. So it is with televised news. Despite the intricate stage sets, each network may only have two or three reporters who cover celebrity trials, wars, hurricanes and a Virgin Mary sighting with the same intensity–but only separately.

The fall of the Soviet Union left a vacuum for those who get their jollies and paychecks by spying upon and rousting fellow citizens. The old NKVD-KGB-type operatives in the 73 pound topcoats, 1/2 acre snap brims and the concrete block shoes were the stuff of wonderment for kids in the 1950s and ’60s. While those decades had plenty of dictators-lite, the real action was in the Soviet Union and its satellite nations. It is only fitting that the present administration take up the fallen mantle of Beria and a host of others. Months ago I had displayed a photo-shopped pix of Diamond Dick Cheney as a massive display in Red Square in recognition of his work in commanding the Justice Department, NSA, communications companies and military intelligence to use our rights to privacy for batting practice. Once we lose these rights, they don’t return.

A friend says Bolton has the demeanor of an academic drunk. That’s the guy who may punctuate a disagreement about Weimar art with the offer, “Let’s take this outside.” Salon’s description of our U.N Ambassador certainly fails to hint that Bolton has mellowed with time on the job. Instead, it seems his wife and he form a tag-team of wrestler and manager on the lip of the ring. Apparently, hair aside, Bolton returned after every break with a different appearance. “You trying to tell me Jesus Christ can’t hit a curveball?”–veteran pitcher Eddie Harris in MAJOR LEAGUE. The Atlanta Braves and the rest of what was once baseball had better be careful. In Somalia, radical Muslims shot some people for watching the World Cup. There will be a time when our own religious police decide they no longer want Catholics or Jews to come to the ballpark or they call for a boycott because ushers did not take ‘Jesus as their lord and personal savior.’ These are the same folks who boycotted stores whose staff said ‘Happy Holidays’ instead of “Merry Key-Riced-Mass!” In my own lonely protest, I shall simply await business’ consternation when they find that the cutsey l’il Born Agains have become drunk with that 200 proof power. Though I may sound as if I were raised by wolves in a pagan rite, I must confess to a relatively solid background in the disciplines of religion and philosophy. It is easier for me to believe in the mysteries of the Roman Catholic Church than it is to believe events like Faith Day occur at ballparks. Since baseball is a game of cumulative statistics, I present this interesting map.

After looking at the Great Tickets site advertised at the Washington Post.com, there is a strong probability that I am spinning outside the earth’s gravitational field.
